We thought this place would have some drawbacks going into it, so we arrived with no huge expectations. Amazingly, when we settled in, we managed to actually grow affectionate for the place. As previous reviewers noted, it fulfilled our needs completely: close to beach and town, quiet, breezy, beach toys, grill, and 4 beds! It was perfect for our 3 and 5 year olds, who liked the yard, the cartoons on the TV in the morning, the lizards and frogs, doves, sparrows, and easy walk everywhere. Yes, it is a simple house but if you can get past the aesthetics, it is pretty great. It is a real, traditional Hawaiian beach house. We thought it was truly amazing that a non- updated property was in this million-dollar neighborhood, which actually made the place seem charming. Loved the clothes line outside to dry all the wet stuff from the beach, the hooks and shelves for little things. The shower by the back door so you don't track sand in, and washer/ dryer worked great. Cooking was a challenge with an older funky stove with no oven, including doing dishes (no dishwasher). Also it is worth noting that there are 2 rather steep steps up to the living room which would be tricky/ dangerous for a toddler who is crawling or learning to walk. Also would like to note that though the house has a separate bedroom, the wall does not go all the way to the ceiling. Good for air flow, not privacy. But all and all a great value especially in this location.
